Is BigHit pulling a Cicada 3301 for Bangtan Universe?

With the recent twitter post from a now verified account called Smeraldo books, I couldn't help but think about the internet phenomenon Cicada 3301. What is Cicada 3301? It's one of the biggest internet mysteries. Basically, someone started posting on a forum (I think) which led to codebreakers and hobby detectives all around the world on a virtual treasure hunt. Some people said it was a ploy for an organization to hire codebreakers. But, whatever it was, it caused quite an uproar.

We already caught a glimpse of this with the Waste It On Me reveal where ARMY went around looking for a billboard. And with how interactive the whole Bangtan Universe is already, it's not really that much of a stretch for BigHit to do this on a bigger scale.

We already know there is a version of the timeline where Jin is able to save his friends (somehow) but we are still clueless about Jin's fate or HOW he was even able to save them. Most of the resolution from each member were intrinsic but we have no clue as to how deep Jin's influence or interference has been.

I was thinking BigHit could leave it at that, but they can also make Jin's journey more interactive. And in this way, they are literally sending us on our own hero'a journey.

It would be so clever for BigHit to tie up this journey to their hints (Hero, The Way, Map of the Soul, Mandala- I'm still not gonna shut up about that). All very Jungian, by the way.

Jung wrote a lot (A LOT) about the Principle of Individuation and it's importance to ourselves. And for a while, I worried about this blog because Jung's work could often be misconstrued when viewed in a direct manner. A lot of readers tend to get lost in the mysticism that they lose sight of the true message. Which is why, imbibing his study into works of fiction is much more effective because it is subliminal and the audience is able to suspend disbelief and immerse themselves.

Anyway, back to Bangtan. This, in my opinion is the most effective way they could further their philosophy about self love and eventually, self actualization without being intrusive or instructive (is that a word?). The problem about teaching self actualization is that it's not something you can teach by instruction. It has to be experienced.

Sending us on our own hero's journey was definitely the answer I was looking for on how they move forward with their work. It's bound to be a unique experience for everyone and so far, BTS and BigHit have not led me astray.

Of course, I could be wrong altogether and they are not sending us on a global treasure hunt. Much more small scale, I think. At least considering not everyone has the funds to go around the world. But certainly something BigHit is capable of. Both in execution and resources. It could simply be getting people curious enough about literature, history or even just by watching it all unfold could trigger a self reflection that could potentially do us all some good.
